Wanderers achieved back to back wins on Saturday after a second half tally of 27 points. On a damp and windy afternoon at Fort Matilda the visitors chose to play with wind advantage. In just 2 minutes Wanderers were ahead stand – off Harrison finished off a great move by the backs to score in the corner converted by Mc Daid, 7 – 0. Within a further 5 minutes the home side conceded 2 penalties which were converted by the visitors 7 – 6.

That was all the scoring in the first half, although both sides had plenty of opportunities to add to their accounts but the weather and the slippery surface denied both sides in the final metres. The second half started positively for the home side with 2 penalties from McDaid 13 – 6.

There was still no sign of a breakthrough for Wanderers, stout defence by Perthshire and poor decision making from the home side continued the stalemate and the supporters were seeing the bonus point win disappearing. Wanderers backs were finding it difficult to make the final break to a score through good defence by the visitors. Wanderers fullback Knapton was sent to the sin – bin followed shortly afterwards by a Perthshire forward. In the 20th minute Wanderers Tyley finished off a forwards surge to the visitors 22 by scoring under the posts 20 – 6. Graham came on for Love in the forwards for the home side and quickly made his mark with a thunderous run through the visitors disorganised rear-guard 27 – 6 in the 25th minute. Could Wanderers score a further try to get the bonus point with a few minutes remaining , they were helped with a further sin – bin of a Perthshire player, formerly a Wanderer, for a high tackle. Right on full – time ever present Wanderers hooker dived over from short range to score for the bonus point 34 – 6.
