Safeguarding at Greenock Wanderers

At Greenock Wanderers, safeguarding is more than a policy, it is our commitment to the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of everyone in our club.

We believe every person has the right to feel safe, be treated with respect, and be heard. These principles guide how we behave, how we make decisions, and how we support one another.

While we place a strong focus on protecting children and young people, safeguarding applies to everyone: players, members, volunteers, and visitors.

Our dedicated Safeguarding Team, alongside our President, Vice President, Development Officer, coaches, parents, children and young people, senior teams, bar staff, and our committee, work together to create a safe, positive environment where everyone can thrive.

We also empower young people through our Youth Forum, ensuring they have a real voice in shaping the club and influencing change.

We follow Children First and sportscotland’s Standards for Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport, and Scottish Rugby Union safeguarding policies, ensuring our approach is consistent with national good practice.

Speaking Up & Getting Support

If something is worrying you, or doesn’t feel right, please tell us. No concern is ever too small, and you will always be taken seriously.

You can report a concern by:

Speaking to any trusted adult, coach, volunteer, committee member, or Safeguarding Team member

Emailing us confidentially at: cpogwrfc@gmail.com

We only share information with those who need to know in order to keep people safe.

We will listen, treat concerns sensitively, and take appropriate action. If you are unsure, still speak up, trust your instincts.
