Match report Saturday 12th October

The visit of Moray to Fort Matilda on Saturday was a massive match for Wanderers after their hammering by Strathmore last week. The home side had to make several changes from last week due to players away attending a wedding. A back row player at centre and a new half back pairing was amongst the changes. Wanderers got off to a decent start but it only took the visitors 12 minutes to shake off travel fatigue to score 5 - 0. Wanderers pack were holding the visitors although their backs were struggling to make ground in attack. A second try for the visitors after a forward broke through the home defence in the 21st minute 12 - 0 Both sides were reduced to 14 men as 2 yellow cards were issued. Wanderers wasted an opportunity to score when they knocked on after threatening the visitors goal line. The visitors failed to go away and ended the half with a further score 19 - 0. Wanderers Boag made a break down the middle of the park and kicked ahead unfortunately the ball bounced off a visitors leg and the chance was lost. A flurry of penalties against the visitors allowed Wanderers to camp in the visitors half but poor decision making denied a home score. A further yellow card for the visitors could not be capitalised on by the home side. From a penalty in their own half Moray showed good handling and their winger Spead away to score giving them the try bonus points with 10 minutes to play 24 - 0. A final try from the visitors on full time completed the scoring 31 - 0. Wanderers will have to pick up some points soon as the Moray match was targeted as a possible home win.
